Regular price $3,199.00
Unit price  per

This is a beautiful .22 Hornet standard rifle produced in 1947. The rifle retains the original factory bluing and stock finish with no added holes or other modifications. It grades in NRA very good condition.

This is a very early transition rifle, featuring a nice mix of type-I (pre-war), type-II (post-war), and unique transition features. These include:

  • pre-war cloverleaf tang
  • pre-war 21 lines-per-inch checkering on the stock
  • post-war rear receiver bridge
  • Transition "rabbit's paw" safety

The stock is uncut with no cracks or noteworthy blemishes. There are a number of light handling marks throughout the stock and the finish has worn thin in a few places. The factory steel buttplate is intact with little bluing remaining. The checkering remains well defined with no major blemishes. The factory bluing is about 90%-95%, with some edge wear from normal use. There is evidence in the bluing of a prior scope mount. No serial number is visible on the bolt. There is a name and identification number lightly scribed under the bolt handle and also inside the floor plate. No attempt has been made to remedy this. All original Hornet parts are present and undamaged. The bore of the 24" barrel is bright with strong rifling. The original .22 Hornet chamber has been verified - this rifle has not been rechambered.
