This is a beautiful .22 Hornet standard rifle produced in 1949. The rifle retains the original factory bluing and stock finish with no added holes or other modifications. It grades in NRA very good, approaching excellent, condition.

The stock is low-comb style, and is uncut with no cracks, stains or other major defects.  It has a small scuff in the wrist area, and a small ding on the front left near the tip.  Otherwise it has typical handling marks from use.  It retains the original steal butt plate which shows some bluing loss.  The checkering is original and still crisp.

The factory bluing is 95% with some wear on the bolt knob and the floor plate from normal use, and a small rub on the underside of the barrel.  The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the receiver.

The bore contains no visible heat damage, pitting, or wear, with very little evidence of use.  It is in excellent condition.  We grade it a 9 out of 10.  Boroscope verified.

All parts are original and correct for this rifle, with the exception of the rear sight.  It currently has a Lyman 16b folding rear sight, where the rifle would have originally had a Winchester 22g rear sight.  The folding sight was probably added to better accommodate a scope at some point in the rifle's history.  This can easily be switched back to the 22g, if desired.
