This is really nice and 1955 Featherweight rifle in the hard to find .358 Winchester chambering. The rifle grades in NRA excellent condition.
The original bluing grades at better than 90% with slight and even wear on the receiver, and edge wear on the muzzle and bottom metal. There is one small rub on the top of the barrel above the stock tip. There are no notable scratches or other blemishes. The stock is in excellent restored condition with no cracks, stains, or blemishes. The checkering is original and crisp. The stock has not been shortened and retains its original aluminum buttplate. The stock barrel channel appears to have been slightly relieved to float the barrel. The 22" featherweight barrel has an excellent bore grading a 9 out of 10. The underside of the barrel near the chamber is marked with an 'X' indicating this rifle was returned to the factory to have the headspace verified by Winchester as a part of a recall, with the 'X' indicating the rifle was checked. The bolt is matched to the receiver and the rifle is mechanically perfect with no evident problems. All correct .358 action parts are present and correct.
