1956 Smith & Wesson 5-Screw Pre-29 44 Magnum Hand Ejector
Often when we are searching for and buying model 70s out of estates and collections, we run across other treasures. This is one of those treasures. This revolver is a Washington state acquisition from the estate of an elderly gentleman. It came to us with several other firearms, including some other older S&W pistols. We do not know the provenance of the gun beyond these details. But what we can tell you is that this is a fantastically rare and desirable Pre-29 5-Screw .44 Magnum revolver from the first year of production - 1956. This pistol was produced before S&W began stamping model numbers on their pistols. Only 200 of this revolver were made in 1956.
The revolver has a 4" barrel and is in overall excellent condition with some slight holster wear at the muzzle, but no other notable issues. The original bluing is in excellent condition with normal wear and no damages. It grades around 95%. The original Coke bottle grips and original sights are all present and in excellent condition. There are no modifications or damage to the gun.
The pistol comes with the original presentation case and it contains the original S&W tools. The presentation case has some wear-holes in the lining and the exterior of the case has a past owners name affixed to it in the form of a Dymo adhesive strip, but is otherwise in very good condition.
