1960 Monte Carlo Stock for .375 H&H and .458 Magnum Rifle
This is a Monte Carlo stock from a 1960 .375 H&H magnum caliber rifle. It has been restored and bears a Winchester replacement recoil pad. This stock also has late-style Super Grade swivel bases, which were an available (but very scarce) factory option for this rifle. It is our opinion the Super Grade swivel bases on this stock are a well-done post-factory customization.
The stock is in excellent restored condition and closely resembles the factory finish. There are no notable handling marks, no cracks or gouges, no oil stains or other noteworthy issues. The original checkering is crisp and has not been recut. The #9 contour factory barrel channel (fits .375 H&H and .458 Win Mag barrels) has not been modified and the stock has not been bedded. This particular stock is inletted for the later barrels which had the added barrel recoil lug. Note in the closeup photos that this stock has an armory pin through the stock web directly behind the magazine well. It is correctly positioned for the aft cross-bolt and could easily be replaced with a cross-bolt. There is no evidence of web cracking in the stock.
This stock will fit an H&H magnum, short magnum, or standard caliber action. Please see the final photo in the sequence for a complete explanation.
