{"product_id":"300-savage-standard-rifle-1951","title":".300 Savage Standard Rifle - 1951","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is a highly collectable 1951 Standard model 70 chambered in the rarest of calibers, the 300 Savage.  Winchester only produced 362 rifles in 300 Savage. It was cataloged exclusively in 1947 but was actually produced from 1947 until 1954. \u003cspan\u003eThe receiver and bolt are serial number matched, with number 176184, indicating the 1951 manufacturing date for the receiver. The barrel is dated 1946, when Winchester began the production of this chambering. Winchester used these barrels on production though 1954. All parts appear to be original and correct for the model, year, and chambering.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMost of the bluing appears factory original and is in very good to excellent condition. The bluing on the barrel is not factory production work but may have been custom shop work or an early re-blue job. It is not a recent bluing job. It is dark, even, and with very little wear. The bolt handle has some wear and thinning; the rest of the bolt components have minor wear, same as the receiver. The bottom metal has very little wear but does have a few light scratches in the metal. The sight hood slight edge wear.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bore of the 24\" barrel is in excellent condition, rating a 9 out of 10 with borescope inspection.  It has practically no throat wear or heat cracking, and only minor, shallow pits. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Monte Carlo stock appears to have its original finish although it may have been maintained with linseed oil over the years. 1951 was the first year of production for the Monte Carlo stock. It has a few minor handling marks in the form of light scratches, dings, and a few tiny surface dents.  There is a crack in the section between the trigger guard and magazine well; this crack does not penetrate through to the outside and is not considered a structural issue. These types of cracks are common on the model 70.  It has no other cracks, splits, repairs, stains, deep scratches, or other notable damage. The checkering is clean with just a few flat spots.
