This is a receiver, bolt and barrel from a 1955 .243 Win. Featherweight rifle. All the parts have a high polish finish, with bluing on the receiver and barrel and the bolt is still in the white. The sights have been removed from the barrel and the rear dovetail has been filled. The bolt is faintly engraved with a serial number matching the receiver, 333253. We made an initial unsuccessful effort to remove the barrel from the receiver but did not attempt applying heat or other more aggressive measures. Rather than invest more time and effort, we decided to sell this as is. We have confirmed that the headspace is correct.
The bore has some wear in the throat, but no pitting, resulting in an 8 out of 10 rating. Borescope verified.
The polished finish is dark and shiny. There is a small patch of pitting near the muzzle and some surface scratches near the chamber. There are no other notable forms of metal damage.
NOTE: Laws governing transfer of firearms require that receivers be shipped to an FFL holder. If you do not hold an FFL or C&R license, you will need to enlist the services of an FFL to complete the transfer. If needed, we are happy to assist you in locating an FFL holder near you who can complete the transfer on your end.
