This is a .22 Hornet target barrel from a Model 70 rifle.
This barrel has been modified in several ways:
It has been shortened to 22". The length was taken from the breech end, with a new tenon, cone breech and chamber.
The crown has been changed from a flat target crown to a stepped target crown.
Two screw holes added near the barrel tenon.
All modifications have been expertly done.
Bluing - 100% - This barrel has been reblued. The new bluing is in excellent condition.
Metal - Overall, this barrel is in excellent condition. There are several very minor marks on the underside of the barrel, but no significant scratches or marks.
Bore - 6/10 - The bore shows notable signs of wear. The rifling is bright and smooth, but there is a consistent layer of light pitting beginning to form throughout the front half of the bore. There are no significant scratches or other forms of metal damage throughout the barrel. Borescope verified.
