This is a matching receiver and bolt body pair from a 1938 standard rifle. Both pieces are marked with the serial number 11914.  Both the receiver and bolt body have the original carbonum finish, a bluing process phased out in 1939.

Receiver - Overall, this receiver is in very good to excellent condition.  The bluing is original, dark, even, and consistent, showing signs of wear on the rails and in the tang area.  There are some small scratches from a receiver sight and some very light freckling, but no significant nicks or other forms of metal damage on the receiver.  The receiver has been drilled and tapped for scope bases with a single hole on the the rear bridge and two holes on the front.

Bolt Body - The bolt body is in very good condition.  The bolt handle shows some minor blotchiness, bluing loss, and a worn spot on the handle. The bolt body itself has no significant scratches, nicks, or other forms of metal damage on the piece.

We use the NRA Modern Gun Condition Standards Grading System for grading part conditions. You can read about it HERE

NOTE: Laws governing transfer of firearms require that receivers be shipped to an FFL holder. If you do not hold an FFL or C&R license, you will need to enlist the services of an FFL to complete the transfer. If needed, we are happy to assist you in locating an FFL holder near you who can complete the transfer on your end.
