This is a receiver from a 1957 standard rifle, marked with the serial number 404935.
Bluing - 90% - The bluing is original; showing edge wear, light wear on the rails, and in the tang area. There is a rub near the Winchester logo, and some bluing loss on the recoil lug.
Metal - There is some discoloration/freckling on the recoil lug, but no other notable scratches, dings or other metal damage. There are no holes or modifications to the receiver.
