This post-war model 70 rifle, chambered in .30-06, is a fine representative example of the late 1940's style of rifle. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 102390, indicating a 1949 manufacture date; the barrel is stamped '48. Overall, this rifle appears to have been lightly used; it sustained some light wear on the stock from handling and storage, but there is very little wear on the metal. This rifle grades in NRA very good to excellent condition.
The low-comb stock shows light wear in the form of light scratches and scuffs and shallow dings, but without any major dents, cracks, splits, or other damage. The checkering on this rifle is clean and crisp, in excellent condition, with almost no flat spots. The stock is unmodified and retains its original steel buttplate. The buttplate is in very good to excellent condition with very little wear.
The metal finishes and parts appear to be original and in very good to excellent condition with no notable scratches, wear, freckling or other damage.
This barrel has just a bit of throat wear and no pitting resulting in a rating of 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
