The VX-3HD line is the highest quality hunting scope Leupold makes with a 1" tube. The 2.5-8x magnification range is more than adequate for most big game hunting situations and does not require parallax adjustments; once the magnification gets much above 10x the shooter needs to adjust the parallax for the range of the shot. The 36mm objective lens still allows a lot of light to enter the scope but can be mounted with low rings. The ability to mount with low rings, combined with the light weight (less than 12 ounces) makes for a well-balanced hunting rifle. Leupold's Custom Dial System® (CDS®) gives you the ability to customize your turret (adjustment dial) to your exact ballistics and environmental conditions.
