This rifle is chambered in .30-06; the receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 75805, indicating an early 1948 manufacture date. The receiver is in the "transition era" configuration, using the cloverleaf tang found on the earlier rifles and the rear bridge of the later rifles. This rifle grades in NRA very good condition.
The stock shows light wear from years of use in the form of a few shallow scratches, rubs, and dings. The checkering on this rifle is clean and crisp with very little signs of wear. The stock has no cracks, splits, or repairs and it retains its original finish and steel buttplate.
The metal finishes appear to be original. The bluing is in good condition, with light edge wear and some small worn spots on the barrel. There is substantial bluing loss and discoloration on the recoil lug and notable thinning on the bolt handle. The receiver does not have any extra holes.
The barrel is most likely not the original barrel on this rifle; it is marked with a 1937 manufacturing date. The barrel shows almost no wear in the throat, some copper fouling and light pitting and wear at the muzzle, resulting in a rating of 8 out of 10. Borescope verified.
