This is a 1952 standard configuration rifle that was special ordered with a stainless steel barrel. The stainless barrel was a special order feature listed in the catalog. The rifle is in NRA excellent condition. The receiver and bolt are marked with matching serial numbers - 328484.
The metal is in excellent condition with original factory finishes, no notable blemishes and very little bluing wear. The stainless barrel has the Winchester "iron plate bluing" finish (the same as many .220 Swift rifles), giving it a silvery satin blued finish. There is some light edge wear on the receiver and bolt knob.
The stock is original to the rifle with a monte Carlo comb and a steel buttplate. The stock had some flaking finish when it came to us and has now been fully restored by the pre64Win team, with the exception of the steel buttplate which retains its original blued finish. The restored finish closely resembles the factory finish and the stock has no noted blemishes, damage or repairs.
The bore of the 24" barrel is in excellent condition with almost no evident wear. It grades at 8 out of 10 under borescope examination.
