This is a custom rifle chambered in .280 Remington. The rifle is built on a 1954 receiver with a heavy 26" stainless Hart barrel measuring 0.875" at the muzzle.
The metal grades at 90%+, with very good bluing and no significant marks, damage or blemishes.
The target stock is a beautifully done custom in straight grain American walnut. With the exception of a very slight grip flair, it is very close to the factory marksman stock in shape and proportions. It has a few minor handling marks but no splits, cracks, or repairs. The recoil lug has been bedded into the stock.
The bore of the 26" barrel has just slight wear and grades better than 8 out of 10 under borescope inspection.
We liked the idea of this rifle so much we couldn't resist taking it to the range. We mounted a very tired Leupold 3-9x scope and some Remington factory 140 grain bullets. The first 5 shots grouped at less than an inch, at which point we moved to the 4" steel at 200 yards - this rifle does not miss. With a proper target scope, an upgraded trigger, and some load development, this rifle has the potential to ring steel at very long distances.
