This is a 1947 rifle chambered in .30-06. The rifle retains its original factory finishes in NRA very good. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 60335, indicating a 1947 manufacture date; the barrel is stamped 1946. Based on the serial number, this would have been one of the last "Pre-war, Type I" receivers produced. It has the clover leaf tang, stripper clip slot, and rear bridge stamping of the early model receivers. Winchester transitioned away from these features in 1947 around serial number 60500.
The stock shows some wear from years of use, but was well cared for with no cracks, splits, or repairs. The checkering has some flat spots but is clean and crisp. The stock retains its original steel buttplate.
The receiver has had one hole drilled in the rear bridge for a scope mount. The rifle comes with a Lyman 48 WJS rear sight mounted; we have also included a few pictures without the sight in order to show the condition of the receiver.
The original factory bluing is in very good condition some light fading and wear.
The bore of the 24" shows light to moderate wear and some minor pitting, rating a 7 out of 10. Borescope verified.
