This is a 1936 rifle chambered in .30-06. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 1235, indicating a 1936 manufacture date; the barrel is also stamped 1936.
The stock shows some wear from years of use, but was well cared for with no cracks, splits, or repairs. It does have numerous scuffs, scratches, and dings. The checkering is clean and crisp and the stock retains its original steel buttplate.
The receiver has had a hole drilled in the rear bridge for a scope mount. The hole was professionally done and is properly aligned.
The metal finishes appear to be original; the bluing is 90%, with only very light fading and muzzle wear and more significant wear on the bottom metal. The metal has a few light scratches and a few very small spots of freckling, with the worst of the freckling on the bottom metal. Overall it is in excellent condition with the exception of the bottom metal, which is very good.
The bore of the 24" barrel shows light pitting in its entire length and light wear in the throat, rating a 6 out of 10. Borescope verified.
