This is a 1939 rifle chambered in .30-06. The receiver is marked with serial number 20102, indicating a 1939 manufacture date; there is no number on the bolt and the barrel is stamped 1938.
The stock appears to have an older refinish; well done, and in very good condition. It shows some light wear from use, but was well cared for with no cracks, splits, or repairs. There is a notable ding near the front sling swivel and some light scratches. The checkering is in very good condition and the stock retains its original steel buttplate.
The metal has probably been refinished. The bluing is in excellent condition on the barrel and receiver, with some wear on the bottom metal. There are no notable dings or gouges in the metal, but there are some light scratches in the bottom metal and on the bolt.
The bore of the 24" barrel has pitting throughout the length, but very little throat wear, rating a 6 out of 10. Borescope verified.
All parts appear original and the receiver has not been drilled with any extra holes.
