This is a very clean .243 Winchester Standard rifle built in 1956. The receiver and bolt are serial number matched with number 361433. The rifle is in NRA excellent condition.
The Monte Carlo stock appears to have its factory finish, although it's possible this is an older refinish. There are a few light handling marks, scratches and tiny dings but no deep scratches, splits, gouges, repairs or stains. There's a bit of flaking of the finish adjacent to the buttplate. The factory steel buttplate has some shallow pitting but most of its bluing remains intact. The checkering is clean and in very good condition with only minor flattening. There is a type-I crack inside the stock at the recoil lug, which is a very common occurrence. The crack does not go all the way through, and does not impact safety or functionality of the rifle. Please see photos.
The barrel and receiver bluing are at 95%, with almost no edgewear, and just minor thinning of the bolt knob and sight hood bluing. The trigger guard has almost perfect finish, but the floor plate has an area where the metal was rubbed with something abrasive and the bluing is disrupted. Please see photos. This is the only spot on the rifle where the metal finish is notably damaged.
The bore of the 24" standard contour barrel is in near perfect condition. We rate it as a 9+ out of 10. Borescope verified.
