This is a .270 Winchester Standard rifle in exceptional factory original condition. The receiver and bolt are serial number matched with number 240365, indicating a 1953 manufacture date.
The factory bluing rates at 98% with almost no fading, wear, scratches or other blemishes. There is a bit of bluing wear on the receiver rails and the bolt components but otherwise the bluing remains dark, even, and undamaged. The buttplate, bottom metal and bolt handle all have virtually perfect bluing.
The bore of the 24" barrel is consistent with the outer condition -- it looks nearly unfired, with no notable throat wear or pitting. We rate it a 9+ out of 10 with borescope inspection.
The low comb stock wears its original finish in excellent condition with just a few light handling marks. There are no cracks, splits, scratches or repairs. The checkering remains clean, sharp and undamaged. There is just one very small but notable finish blemish at the bottom of the stock butt. It's about the size of a large pea. Please see pics.
