This is a standard steel floor plate from a Winchester Model 70 rifle. The underside shows the signature triangle-dash proof mark of a pre-war floor plate. The underside also has 273 stamped on it -- possibly the original serial number from the rifle -- though serial numbers were not marked on floor plates in the Winchester factory.
Bluing - Refinished - This floor plate does not appear to have factory rust-bluing. It has likely been refinished at some point in the past -- not in the pre64win shop. The finish has a number of small tool marks and scratches, but no significant edgewear or freckling, and not much fading.
Metal - The metal appears in excellent condition aside from the tiny tool marks. There is no rust, pitting, dents, or gouges.
