This stock is originally from a .300 H&H magnum rifle produced between 1951 and 1961. It will fit all .300 H&H rifles produced between 1948 and 1963 with a standard barrel contour. It has endured several unfortunate modifications by prior owners.
The good news: This stock is structurally very sound with no splits, chips, cracks, or gouges. The checkering remains in very good condition, clean and unblemished with a few flat spots. The Decelerator recoil pad remains soft and pliable. It has not been bedded.
The bad news ... this stock has been modified in the following ways:
- It has been aggressively shortened, and then lengthened again. A line is visible 1" back from the recoil pad, where extra wood was glued on. This seam is smooth to the touch.
- The tip has been cut and angled
- The forearm screw hole has been filled
- The rear sling swivel screw hole has been filled and re-drilled
- The stock has been fully refinished, and is overcoated and shiny
- It's equipped with a 1" Decelerator recoil pad.
