This is a standard rifle chambered in .257 Roberts, produced in 1948 with a serial number of 87152 marked on the receiver. There is no serial number marked on the bolt, it, along with the extractor, extractor ring, magazine follower, and receiver rail, have been jeweled. The rifle grades in NRA excellent condition (with a refinished stock). The receiver has the clover leaf tang, combined with the smooth rear bridge which retains the clip loading slot found on target rifles. Additionally, the barrel has been drilled and tapped for a forward scope mounting block.
The stock, including the steel butt plate, has been refinished by the Pre64 team. It is in excellent (refinished) condition, with no significant cracks, gouges, splits, or even wear. The checkering is in very good condition.
The bluing is in excellent condition with only minimal wear. The are no notable dings, gouges, scratches, or other damage in the metal. The jeweling is sharp and clean.
The bore of the 24" barrel has only light wear in the throat and no significant pitting. We grade it as a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
