This .270 WCF standard rifle was produced in 1949, and retains its original factory finishes and configuration. The rifle presents in excellent condition overall, with only the bottom metal grading at good condition.
The original barrel bluing remains exceptional at 95% with no notable edgewear, fading or scratches. There's a hint of edgewear on the sight hood, and light wear to the receiver rails and some of the bolt components. The bottom metal is the only metal that truly shows its age, showing fading, light scratches, and scattered freckling.
The bore of the 24" barrel has no pitting or heat cracking, but does have some minor wear at the throat. We grade the bore a 9 out of 10 with boresceope examination.
The stock appears to have its factory finish, though it could possibly be an older refinish job. Either way, it looks very much like factory finish and is in excellent condition with minor handing marks. There are no deep scratches, cracks, gouges, repairs or other cosmetic problems. The original steel buttplate has been replaced with a Decelerator pad which is very soft and pliable. The fit of the pad on the stock is not perfect, with some slight overlap. The checkering remains very clean and unblemished with just minor flattening from years of handling. The length of pull is standard at 13-5/8".
