This is a .270 Winchester Standard rifle built in 1937. The bolt and receiver are both marked with serial number 8695. The rifle has been completely refinished (not by the pre64 team) and is in NRA excellent (refinished) condition. The receiver has not been drilled, and the rifle is equipped with a Lyman receiver sight. The rear sight has been removed and the dovetail has been filled with a Lyman blank.
The refinished low comb stock is in excellent (refinished) condition with no splits, or chips or repairs. There is one small gouge on the pistol grip. The checkering is clean and crisp with no flat spots. The steel butt plate has been re-blued; there are a few pits showing through the bluing.
The bluing is at 98%, with only minor wear on the tang and bolt components. The are no notable scratches, dings, or other metal damage or repairs. The protruding portion of the firing pin has been polished. Overall, the metal is in excellent (refinished) condition.
The bore of the 24" barrel is rated as an 8 out of 10, with a combination of light throat wear and a few shallow, scattered pits.
