This is a standard rifle chambered in .270 Winchester and produced in 1951. The receiver and bolt are serial number matched with number 188757.
The metal grades in NRA excellent condition with 95% finishes. There is a hint of wear around the muzzle and on the sight hood. The bolt components have light bluing loss, but otherwise there are no notable scratches or other blemishes to the metal. The floor plate and trigger guard are pristine, with no scratches or other blemishes.
The bore of the 24" barrel has only minor throat wear, no pitting and no heat cracking. We rate it a 9 out of 10 under borescope evaluation.
The low comb stock has been refinished here in the Pre64 shop. The stock has no splits, cracks, dings, dents, or scratches and grades in NRA excellent (refinished) condition. The checkering is sharp, clean and unblemished. The original steel butt plate has some light bluing loss with dings and scratches, but no notable damage. Overall, this rifle is extremely high-condition, and almost perfect.
