This is a 1954 Super Grade rifle chambered in .30-06. All correct Super Grade parts are present and appear to be factory matched. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 297519, indicating a 1954 manufacturing date (the marking is faint on the bolt). The stock and some of the metal parts have been refinished.
The Monte Carlo has been refinished in the Pre64 shop. It retains the factory steel buttplate which has also been refinished. The stock is in near-perfect (refinished) condition, with no notable scratches, dings, dents, wear, cracks, repairs, or other damage. The checkering is exceptionally clean and crisp.
The metal finish is in very good condition, partially refinished, with some minor wear on the bolt components, at the muzzle, and the receiver rails. There is bluing loss and discoloration on the recoil lug. The floorplate and trigger guard have been refinished. There are a few small scratches on the barrel.
The bore of the 24" barrel has almost no throat wear and no pitting. We rate it as a 9 out of 10 under borescope evaluation.
