This .30-06 Springfield Model 70 standard rifle was produced in 1942, the last year of full production before the "war years", when production nearly stopped. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 48189. Overall, this rifle appears to have been fired very little, but it sustained some wear from handling and storage. This rifle grades in NRA very good condition.
The stock shows moderate handling wear in the form of light scratches and scuffs and shallow dings. There are no cracks, splits, repairs, modification, or major defects. The checkering has light wear and flattening of some points. It retains its original finish and steel buttplate. The buttplate has some discoloration and shallow pitting.
The metal finishes and parts appear to be original and in very good condition with a few shallow scratches, finish wear, and light freckling.
The bore has almost no throat wear but has pitting throughout the length of the bore. It rates a 6 out of 10. Borescope verified.
