This is a beautiful model 70 rifle is chambered in .30-06. The receiver and bolt are both marked with 53860, indicating a 1946 manufacture date. The receiver features the "pre-war" cloverleaf tang, stripper clip slot and textured rear bridge. The rifle appears to have been used very little.
The stock has been professionally refinished here in the pre64win shop. There is a small repair in the tang and a shallow dent in the forearm checkering, but no other repairs, cracks, splits or other notable damage. The checkering is original, un-recut, and has a few flat spots. The original steel buttplate has some freckling and wear.
The metal finishes and parts appear to be original and in very good to excellent condition with light wear and a very little, very shallow freckling.
This bore shows virtually no erosion but contains pitting throughout the length of the bore, giving it a 6 out of 10 rating. Borescope verified.
