This 1949 Model 70 rifle is chambered in .30-06. The receiver is marked with serial number 122097, but the number is no longer visible on the bolt. Overall, this rifle appears to have been fired very little but the stock has sustained some wear from handling and storage.
The factory bluing on this rifle is in excellent condition, rating at 95%. The barrel and receiver have almost no edgewear, thinning or scratches. Only the receiver rails and some of the bolt components show any wear. The bolt knob has just slight thinning of the finish. The bottom metal is nearly perfect, with a few light scratches but no notable damage.
The bore looks almost unfired, and it rates a 9+ out of 10 with borescope inspection.
The low-comb stock shows wear in the form of light scratches, scuffs and dings, but without any major dents, splits, or structural damage. There is a thin crack inside the recoil lug area of the stock. This is a common place for cracks to form and should have no impact on the structural integrity of the stock. The checkering remains clean and crisp in excellent condition. The original steel buttplate is in very good condition with just mild bluing loss.
