This is an all-original transition-era Model 70 rifle chambered in .30 Gov't '06. The receiver and bolt are marked with serial number 61978, indicating a 1947 manufacture date. It retains all original factory finishes and configurations.
The factory bluing on this rifle presents in excellent condition, rating at 90+%. The barrel has only light muzzle wear and a few scattered scratches. The bottom metal and swivels appears virtually perfect. The bolt knob and receiver rails have some mild wear, but overall the metal remains in very nice shape.
The bore of this rifle remains in very good condition. It has virtually no throat wear but does have some scattered shallow pitting. It rates an 8 out of 10 with borescope inspection.
The low-comb stock shows scattered handling marks and honest wear but no structural damage. There are no cracks, chips, splits, oil stains or past repairs. The original checkering remains in excellent condition with some areas of flattening. The steel buttplate has wear to the bluing but no significant damage.
