This is a nicely restored Monte Carlo style stock from a standard rifle produced between 1951 and 1958.  It will fit all standard rifles made between 1948 and 1963 other than the H&H magnum and .458 magnum chamberings.  It has been professionally refinished in the Pre64win shop, including the steel butt plate.
This stock is made from a beautiful piece of American walnut, and remains in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, scratches, dents, or oil stains.  A previous owner had cut a small notch in the stock opposite the bolt handle, to accommodate a receiver sight.  We filled and blended this notch, but the repair is noticeable.  Please see photos.  Aside from that one area, the stock is free of significant blemishes.  The checkering is in good condition, showing some minor wear and flat spots.  The stock is not bedded, shortened, or modified in any other way.
