This is a nice .22 Hornet standard rifle produced in 1941. The rifle grades in NRA very good condition.

The original Winchester Carbonia bluing grades at 90%-95%, with minimal edge wear, but light freckling in some areas and also some emerging patina. There are no notable scratches, rubs, pits or gouges. There are no added holes in the receiver or barrel. The barrel date stamp is 1940 and appears to be original to the rifle. The floor plate, trigger guard and buttplate all have some emerging brown patina.

The stock has been nicely restored, but is otherwise unmodified. It retrains the original steel buttplate and has not been shortened. There are no stains, cracks gouges or other noteworthy blemishes. The original checkering remains well defined with no major blemishes.

The bolt is serial number matched to the rifle. All original Hornet parts are present. The original .22 Hornet chamber has been verified - this rifle has not been rechambered.  The bore of the 24" CMS steel barrel has been inspected by borescope and is in excellent condition. The rifling is bright and strong with no throat erosion or pits. There is slight copper fouling, but no notable wear or other problems. We grade the bore an 8 out of 10.
