This is a stunning .22 Hornet Target rifle produced in 1948. The rifle retains the original factory bluing and stock finish with no added holes or other modifications. It grades in NRA excellent condition.
Although the .22 Hornet in target configuration is a cataloged rifle, it is exceedingly rare. Exact production numbers are not know, but it is believed less than 100 were produced.
The stock is original in all respects with no noteworthy blemishes and the factory steel buttplate is intact. The few, small, handling marks are the only proof that this stock didn't just come off the production line yesterday. This is a small stain (solvent?) on the left side of the front receiver ring.
The original bluing is excellent, easily grading at 95%+. The bolt is serial number matched to the rifle and all original Hornet parts are present. The rear sling swivel has some scratches.
The bore of the 26" barrel is bright with strong rifling, no throat wear and no pitting, easily grading at a 9+ out of 10. Borescope verified.
