This is a 1962 Featherweight rifle chambered in .243 Winchester and is in NRA excellent (nearly new) condition. The receiver and bolt are marked with matching serial numbers - 557991.
The metal is in excellent condition with an original factory finish, no notable blemishes and very little bluing wear. The aluminum bottom metal is nearly perfect, with only a couple of very small scratches. There is some light finish wear on the receiver rails.
The stock is original to the rifle with a Monte Carlo comb and a hard rubber buttplate. The stock has no modifications and retains its original factory finish. This stock had a few patches where the finish had peeled off, possibly caused by exposure to cleaning solvent. These patches have been repaired but are still visible under close examination. There is light handling wear, but no significant cracks, dents, or staining.
The bore of the 22" barrel is in excellent condition. There is no evidence this rifle was ever fired, no throat wear, no copper fouling. It does have a few scattered light pits. Because of the pitting, it rates a 9 out of 10 under borescope examination.
