This is a .243 Win varmint rifle produced in 1959. The varmint rifle configuration was produced from 1955-1963 and had a medium-heavy stainless steel barrel mated to a sporter style stock. All parts appear correct and the bolt and receiver are both marked with serial number 458729.
The metal and finish is in excellent condition. There is minor wear on some bolt components, but almost no edge wear anywhere. We rate the bluing at 95%. There are no dings, gouges, or scratches in the metal.
The bore of the 26" stainless barrel has just a little throat wear and the rest of the bore is excellent. We grade the bore a 9 out of 10.
The stock retains its factory finish in excellent condition with just a very few light handling marks and no cracks, dents, or splits. The checkering is in excellent condition. The stock has not been shortened or otherwise modified and retains its original hard rubber buttplate. It is fitted with 1&1/4" sling swivels.
