This is a target rifle chambered in the hard to find .243 Win chambering. Although a cataloged configuration, just 683 target rifles were produced in .243 Win - less than half-a-percent of total model 70 target rifle production.
The rifle presents in all factory-original finishes and grades in NRA excellent condition.
The original bluing on the rifle is very nice grading at 95% with some slight edgewear at the muzzle and a few tiny scuffs. The stainless-steel barrel shows a scrape from a scope base, but otherwise it is nearly perfect throughout. The bolt knob has some thinning of the bluing. The bottom metal has some subtle surface scratches but almost no bluing loss.
The bore has very little wear and no pitting; we rate it as a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
The stock retains its factory finish in very good condition with a few subtle handling marks. There are no cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. The stock has been bedded, and it retains its original steel buttplate. The correct 1.25" target swivels are present.
All parts are correct for the period and chambering and appear original to the rifle, including the factory target trigger. The bolt is serial number matched to the receiver.
