This courageous well-loved rifle is chambered in the very rare .250-3000 Savage. The rifle retains original factory finishes in NRA good to very good condition.

The stock is in very good condition with no cracks or stains, gouges, or other major damage.  It does have extensive handling marks in the form of small nicks and dings from 80 years of use.  The 20 lines per inch checking is original with a few minor dents but otherwise in good condition.  The stock is unmodified and retains its original steel buttplate, which is missing most of its bluing. The stock finish appears to be original, showing finish loss in a few areas from wear.

The original bluing grades at 85% with moderate edge wear, a few rubs, and some slight freckling on the barrel.  The bottom metal is worse, grading at 50% with heavy wear and scratches.  There is a 6-48 hole in the receiver bridge which is correctly located for a Redfield JR 1-piece scope base.  This appears to be the only modification to the rifle.

The barrel rates a 6 out of 10, with notable pitting throughout the length of the bore.  Interestingly, it has been fired very little, and there's only very light wear in the throat, but the condition indicates it has been ridden hard and put away wet a few times.

Based on our examination, we conclude this rifle is a factory-original .250-3000 rifle in all original finishes.  The bolt is serial matched to the receiver and all other parts appear to be original to the rifle.
