This is a custom rifle chambered in .257 Roberts Ackley Improved, produced in 1953. The barrel is an aftermarket custom barrel, without provision for sights. The stock was originally a Featherweight stock but the barrel channel has been opened up for the aftermarket barrel contour. The bolt handle has been modified from the original contour and the magazine follower has been replaced with an aftermarket model. The extractor ring has been modified. The rifle grades in NRA very good condition.
The stock has many rubs, scratches and shallow dings but no cracks, splits or other notable damage. The finish appears to have been overcoated. The factory buttplate has been replaced with a Pachmayr White Line recoil pad which is still soft and in good condition. The original checkering is in good condition with some worn and flat spots. This stock is longer than usual, with a 14&1/4" Length of Pull
The aluminum bottom metal has its original finish and is very good condition. The rest of the metal parts have been refinished; the finish is in very good condition with some light edge wear. The are no notable dings, pitting, or deep scratches in the metal.
The bore of the 24" barrel has enough throat wear and heat cracking in the throat to reduce its rating to a 7 out of 10, but there is no notable pitting. Borescope verified.
