This is a .270 Winchester transition era target rifle produced in 1948. Transition era target rifles are uncommon enough, but in the .270 chambering they are rare indeed.
The metal is in excellent condition. The original bluing on the 24" barrel is excellent. There are some very light wear in the bolt guid portion of the tang, as well as light bluing wear on the guide areas of the receiver where the bolt lugs contact the guides. The extractor ring shows some bluing wear from bolt cycling, but no other wear of the bluing is noted.
The bore of the 24" barrel has moderate wear and light pitting under borescope examination. We grade the bore a 7 out of 10.
The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the receiver.
The refinished stock is in very good condition with some handling marks, but no damage. The stock has not been shortened or otherwise modified and retains its original steel buttplate. There is a notch in the stock under the receiver sight caused by the elevation screw of the sight. The correct 1.25" target swivels are present.
