This 1955 .30-06 is a very nice representative sample of a Featherweight rifle. The receiver is numbered 345822; the bolt is not marked as it has been jeweled, as have the extractor and follower.  This rifle has the #5 front sight ramp - made with a unique crosshatched roll die pattern. This ramp was only used only for a short period of time and is considered an experimental production design and is a bit of a model 70 oddity.

The metal is in very good condition; the bluing rates at 90%. The barrel has light wear around the muzzle and some light scratches. The bolt handle has wear. The aluminum bottom metal is in excellent condition. There are a few light marks on the receiver from previously mounted scope bases and receiver sight, and some wear on the rails and in the tang area.

The stock is in excellent condition, with no notable chips, gouges, splits, chip, or repairs. The checkering is clean, crisp, and shows its light wear only under close examination.

An examination of the bore indicates this rifle was stored, and only rarely, if ever, fired. There is no notable wear in the throat or at the muzzle, but there is some scattered light pitting resulting in this bore to be rated a 7 out of 10.
