This is a beautiful .30-06 Springfield Standard rifle. The serial number is 313765, indicating a 1954 manufacture date. This is a high-condition rifle with mostly factory finishes, and rates in NRA very good condition.
The metal finishes are all original with the bluing grading at 90%. There is some bluing loss around the muzzle and on the buttplate, and there are a few light scratches to the bottom metal. There are no rubs, pits, gouges or other noteworthy blemishes in the metal. All parts appear correct and original to this rifle, including the bolt which is serial number matched to the rifle.
The bore looks bright with strong rifling to the eye, but the borescope shows some light scattered pitting in the first 1/3 of the barrel which has caused to downgrade it. We rate it a 6 out of 10. Borescope verified.
The Monte Carlo stock on this rifle has been professionally restored and looks exactly like the factory finish in color and texture. It is in near-perfect condition, with no cracks, stains, gouges, chips or other noteworthy blemishes. The checkering is crisp and clean. The stock has not been shortened, bedded or otherwise modified.
This rifle came out of a collection in London, Ontario, Canada. We managed the import and the rifle has an extremely small and discrete import mark on the underside of the barrel, just forward of the stock tip (see photo). The import mark is approximately .050" by .250" in size.
