This is a 1948 Super Grade rifle chambered in .30-06. The receiver is a "transition era" receiver, having the cloverleaf tang of the pre-war rifles combined with the smooth bridge with factory drilled and tapped holes of the later models. The rifle is in NRA very good to excellent condition. All correct Super Grade parts are present and appear to be factory matched. All finishes appear to be original. The bolt and receiver are both marked with serial number 76360.
The low-comb stock has an original finish, steel buttplate, and Super Grade sling swivel bases. The finish is in excellent condition with just a few handling marks and no major dings, scrapes, or other damage. The checkering is in near-perfect condition; the buttplate has a ding and some light scratches.
The bluing on the receiver and bolt components is in excellent condition; dark and even without any notable blemishes. The barrel has small rub on the top but otherwise is in excellent condition. There are no dings or scratches on any of these components. The bottom metal has a few light scratches on the trigger guard and a couple of deeper scratches on the floorplate.
The bore of the 24" barrel has almost no throat wear and no pitting. We rate it as a 9 out of 10 under borescope examination.
