This is a .300 H&H Magnum rifle produced in 1953. The bolt and receiver are serial number matched (faintly on the bolt) with number 276751. The rifle has previously been reblued and the stock has been refinished. The side of the receiver has two holes drilled for a side mount scope base. There are 2 additional holes in the receiver below that are hidden by the stock. Please see pics of the barreled action without the stock.
The metal on this rifle is in excellent (reblued) condition, and rates at 90%. The receiver and bolt are overly glossy and do not closely resemble factory bluing. The barrel has a few scattered scratches and rubs, but no rust or other damage. The muzzle and sight hood have a bit of fading, but otherwise the bluing remains in great condition. There is some bluing wear on the bolt components and the bolt knob. The reblued bottom metal is in perfect condition.
The Monte Carlo stock has also been refinished and is in excellent condition. There are no significant dings, scratches, splits, or stains, and no notable handling marks. The checkering is in good condition with some flat spots and small blemishes. The reblued steel buttplate has no notable wear or damage. There is a small type-1 crack in the interior recoil lug area of the stock, which is a common and inconsequential spot for cracks to form. It does not go all the way through and does not impact safety or functionality of the rifle.
The bore of the 26" barrel is in very good condition, rating an 8 out of 10 due to some throat wear. There are no notable pits. Borescope verified.
