This is a highly collectable 1947 Standard model 70 chambered in the rarest of calibers, the 300 Savage.  Winchester only produced 362 rifles in 300 Savage. It was cataloged exclusively in 1947, the year of manufacture, but they were actually produced from 1947 until 1954. The receiver and bolt are serial number matched, with number 69916.

The factory bluing rates at 95%, with only very minor wear, mostly on the edges and on the bolt components.  There is light edgewear and tiny metal dings to the muzzle.  The sight hood has a bit more edgewear and an area of thin bluing.  The barrel bluing is in excellent condition, with a few tiny cosmetic blemishes.  The bottom metal shows light edgewear and a few scratches, as well as some patches of surface pitting on the trigger guard.

The bore of the 24" barrel is in excellent condition, rating a 9 out of 10 with borescope inspection.  It has practically no throat wear or heat cracking, and only minor, shallow pits.

The low comb stock retains its original finish with a few minor handling marks in the form of light scratches, dings, and a few tiny surface dents.  It has no cracks, splits, repairs, stains, deep scratches, or other notable damage. The checkering is clean and crisp with no gouges, dents or flat spots. The butt plate remains in excellent condition with little wear or bluing loss.
