This is a very early .308 Winchester Featherweight rifle, produced in 1953 (2nd year of production). This rifle is 100% original, with factory finishes and parts. It grades in NRA excellent condition.
This rifle has all original bluing, grading at 98%. The barrel and bottom metal look virtually perfect, with only the tiniest hints at wear to the finish. The bore of the 22" barrel contains no pitting, erosion or fouling. It shows almost no evidence of use, and grades a 9 out of 10 with the Boroscope.
The stock retains the original factory finish in excellent, nearly perfect condition. The wood has a few light handling marks, but no gouges, cracks, oil stains or other problems. The checkering is crisp and clean with no blemishes. The factory aluminum buttplate is also intact and in very good condition, with just some light finish wear.
As an early featherweight, this rifle has the integral sight ramp and type-II bolt (undrilled knob), which are both unique to these earliest of Featherweight rifles. The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the rifle
