This .375 H&H Magnum standard rifle was produced in 1953. This rifle grades in NRA very good to excellent condition.
The metal grades at 95%. The bluing on the barrel is in excellent condition with almost no wear. The receiver has a faint impression in the bluing from a previously installed scope mount. Overall, there is no major wear to the factory bluing. The holes for mounting a scope base on the rear bridge have been enlarged to fit a size #8-40 screw. There are additional, non-standard, markings on the bottom of the barrel, see photos.
The Monte Carlo stock rates in very good overall condition, retaining it's original finish with a factory Winchester recoil pad. With the recoil pad the length of pull is 13-5/8" and has not been shortened. The finish shows some light wear but is in very good condition. The recoil lug has been bedded and there is some additional bedding material in the receiver area that may indicate repaired cracks: the stock appears sound and if repairs were made, they were effective. The checkering is crisp and clean and has not been recut.
The bore of the 25" medium contour barrel appears to have possibly never been fired. There is no throat erosion, but some light pitting reduces the rating of this barrel to an 8 out of 10.
The bolt is serial number matched to the receiver. All parts are correct and appear to be original to the rifle.
