This is a .375 H&H model 70 Super Grade rifle, produced in 1954. The receiver and bolt are serial number matched with 295374. This rifle is equipped with Leupold Vari-X-III 1.5-5 scope mounted in custom quick release Lenard Brownell mount. The original front sight has been replaced with a Marbles gold bead sight.
The metal finishes have some edge wear and fading. The are a few scratches near the rear sight and on the trigger guard, but no other notable damage. The Super Grade stamp on the floor plate has been filled in with a beige-colored paint. This bolt raceway may have been polished as it works buttery smooth.
The bore of the 25" medium contour barrel has almost no wear or pitting; we rate it a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
The Monte Carlo style stock wears factory finish in good condition, but with significant handling marks. There are scratches, scuffs and dings to the cheek rest area, and also damage to the black forend tip. There is some peeling to the finish where it meets the recoil pad. The reproduction red Winchester recoil pad remains soft and pliable. The checkering remains very clean and unblemished, but some minor flattening due to handling. The length of pull is 13&3/4".
The Leupold scope has minor fading in the finish and a few very small scratches but no other significant wear or damage. It has a duplex reticle and all adjustments move smoothly. The glass is clear and there is no fogging or scratches on the lenses. The scope is mounted in a vintage Lenard Brownell quick release mount in excellent condition.
