The rifle was produced in 1937 in the third most rare model 70 chambering - the 7MM (7x57 Mauser). Just a fraction of a percent of model 70s were chambered in this cartridge. The rifle has been modified with the addition of a hole for a scope mount in the rear bridge. The receiver and the bolt are both marked with serial number 7735. The rifle grades in NRA excellent condition.
The metal is in very good to excellent condition with an original factory finish, no notable blemishes but some light bluing wear, particularly on the bolt handle, other bolt components, and at the muzzle.
The beautiful, refinished stock is in excellent (near-perfect) condition with just one small ding near the pistol grip. There are no repairs, splits, cracks or other notable damage. The stock retains its steel buttplate, also in excellent condition. The checkering is clean and crisp, without any notable flat spots.
The bore of the 24" barrel is in very good condition. There is very minimal wear and only scattered light pitting. It grades at 8 out of 10 under borescope examination.
