This is a 1958 Super Grade .30-06 rifle in NRA excellent condition, with matching serial numbers (431000) on the bolt and receiver. It has all original parts and correct configuration for the year. Based on our evaluation we're confident that this is a genuine 1958 Super Grade.
The metal is in superb condition with original factory finishes, virtually no edgewear, and no notable blemishes. The bottom metal is smooth and dark with only tiny handling marks. The factory-original butt plate is the only part of the gun that shows any wear, with some mild to moderate fading.
The bore contains no throat erosion, but there is some pitting from being put away wet sometime in the past. We rate it a 7 out of 10 with borescope inspection.
The stock is original to the rifle with a Monte Carlo comb and original steel butt plate. It has been professionally refinished by the Pre64Win team due to flaking of the factory finish, and it closely resembles the original. The stock has no noted blemishes, damage, or repairs. The checkering is clean, crisp, and wraps all the way around the bottom of the stock.
Overall this rifle is in almost-mint condition and will make an excellent addition to someone's Model 70 collection.
